The changes in design occurred in the mid 1940s. New materials such as latex rubber started getting used. This enables snapbacks to be made from a much more sturdy material. The caps also had a larger brim in the 1940s than they previously had.

Vintage snapbacks used various materials such as cotton, polyester and wool. These materials are considerably different than what we use in hats today. The snapbacks became very popular in the 40s. Many other sports such as basketball, football, soccer and hockey incorporated snapback hats for their fan bases. Team sponsors started making caps with their logos. Players were, as to this day are asked to wear them in public and press conference events.
