This is something different to do and there are many different ways to host a cheese and wine party, but people feel a little intimidated when it comes to something like this and that shouldn't be the case at all. You don't have to be a wine snob. You just to enjoy the subject you are talking about and if you can do that nothing will be as daunting as everyone says it is.
This would be a good idea to have a few friends over that you know very well or it could be a team bonding event for your business. It could also be a way of establishing new clients. The most successful parties are usually smaller. Limit your cheese and wine tasting parties to under 20 people and this will allow your guests to mingle as they taste.
Start with your mildest cheeses and work your way up to the heavier cheeses. Pair the wines by region so for example you could serve Feta cheese with a Greek wine and and Roquefort with a Late Harvest Zinfandel. Don't forget Italian wine and cheese!
If you don't know where to start then just pick three or four cheeses from the wine and cheese guide and this might be better because it is always beneficial for people to start with basics.You might want to choose a cheese from three different regions.
Provide a glass for each person and serve the cheese at room temperature. Most people prefer to sample the cheese without baguettes or crackers, which allows you to taste all the flavors, but you can provide a little of each for those who are not used to this. You could take it one step further and provide a wine and cheese pairing menu, but this is not essential.
